Privacy Policy
Last updated July 2026
Knitta (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your personal information — including the projects, patterns and photos you add — when you use our mobile application Knitta: Crochet Journal (the “App”).
By using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
- Account Information: Name, email address and authentication tokens.
- Project & Craft Data: Your projects, row, round, stitch and repeat counters, session logs, notes, and your yarn stash entries.
- Patterns You Import: PDF patterns and pattern links you add to the App.
- Photos You Add: Project photos you choose to attach to a project.
- Subscription & Purchase Information: Subscription status and transaction data.
- Usage Information: Feature usage, device type, OS, IP, and crash logs.
- Advertising & Analytics Identifiers: Device and advertising identifiers used to measure and promote the App. See section 4.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To save your projects, counters and session history so you can pick up where you left off.
- To display the patterns you import and let you check off steps as you go.
- To organise and display your yarn stash.
- To manage your subscription and restore purchases.
- To understand feature usage and improve performance.
3. Patterns and Photos You Add
We only collect the pattern files, links and photos that you choose to add. We do not scan your device library or your files.
- Storage: Patterns and photos are stored with your account so they are available on your devices.
- Retention: They are kept until you delete them or delete your account.
- Ownership: Patterns you import remain yours, and remain subject to the licence of whoever created them. We use them only to display them back to you inside the App.
- Third Parties: Your projects, patterns and photos are not sold, are not shared with advertising partners, and are not used to train AI models.
4. Advertising and Analytics
We work with advertising and analytics partners to measure how people find the App and how it performs. This may involve sharing advertising and device identifiers, and in some cases tracking activity across other companies’ apps and websites for advertising purposes.
On iOS we ask for your permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt before tracking you across other companies’ apps and websites, and you can change your answer at any time in your device settings. Your projects, patterns and photos are never shared with advertising partners.
5. Data Sharing
| Third Party | Purpose | Data Shared |
|---|---|---|
| Cloud storage provider | Storing projects, patterns and photos | Project, pattern and photo data |
| App Store | Subscription validation | Transaction and receipt data |
| Firebase / Sentry | Crash reporting and analytics | Anonymised device data |
| Advertising & attribution partners | Measuring campaigns and promoting the App | Advertising and device identifiers |
6. User Rights
You may request to access, delete, or correct your data, or withdraw consent. These actions can be done via the app or by contacting us at simon@smallstack.dk.
7. Children’s Privacy
This app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If discovered, we delete it immediately.
8. Security
- HTTPS encryption for all communication.
- Secure authentication and token-based access control.
- Regular vulnerability assessments.
9. Subscription Terms
Knitta offers auto-renewable subscriptions billed via your Apple ID, including a free trial. You will be charged unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or billing period ends. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple settings.
The total billed amount is always displayed more prominently than any calculated monthly equivalent.
10. Camera & Photo Access
Camera and photo access is only requested when you choose to add a photo to a project. Buttons use terms like “Continue” or “Next”, never “Allow”, to comply with platform guidelines.
11. Data Retention
- Account, project, pattern and photo data: Retained until deleted by the user.
- Subscription data: Retained as required by law or regulation.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. Significant changes will be communicated in-app. Continued use after changes implies acceptance.
